Our ISP, Savvis, has informed us that they will be doing maintenance on our router for approximately 15 minutes sometime between 4 AM and 8 AM Eastern Time on Saturday morning. Between 8am and 10am central time on 10/02/2003, CyberStrike 2, the website, game forums, and the ability to log into any games may be unavailable while we do routine maintenance on the servers. Anyone already logged into the games with the exception of CyberStrike 2 should not experience any problems.

Simutronics is having difficulty sending email to AOL email addresses. At this time the emails are being returned to us. The problem is related to our change in Internet Service Providers. We are working to resolve the issue, but it is likely to continue until sometime on Friday.

Special Announcement:

Simutronics is in the process of switching ISPs from MCI/UUnet to Savvis. This requires that we reconfigure our firewall, game servers, web server and various other servers. Unfortunately, our IP addresses will also be changing with this switch. On Friday, September 26, Modus Operandi, Alliance of Heroes and CyberStrike 2 will all again be unavailable briefly while we update a related server followed by all the GemStone games and then all the DragonRealms games. We will start Friday's maintenance at 8:30 AM Eastern time and we plan on being finished by 1 PM Eastern time. Each of the games will be unavailable during part of this time, but not the entire time.

There will be further maintenance of the login server, web server, forums, etc. We will identify the times of these later when we know how well the first set has gone.

We apologize for the inconvenience, but unfortunately these changes are required to continue bringing you the outstanding games that you have come to enjoy.

Special Announcement: E-Mail Troubles

For some unknown reason, the owner/operator of the largest "Spam Lists" has decided to stop maintaining his list and is now blocking email access to random chunks of IP addresses. The potential effect of this is that any mail coming from us or relayed through us (@play.net) that happens to be going to sites/domains that use this particular company *might* be rejected. SysAdmins around the world who use this company (and that's LOTS of them) are currently reconfiguring their servers to stop using this list, but until this happens, our hands are tied. We will be doing our best to check for rejected mail so that we can use other means to contact customers (when/if necessary).

The Sobig.f virus is sending so many emails through our email system that our mail server is being overloaded. At this point, real email is just trickling through until this virus subsides. If you send us email and it bounces back to you due to the overload, please resend the email. Please ensure that you have anti-virus software running with up-to-date definitions.

A new Ranking point system was implemented today,along with a new medal now awarded to those players who achieve an "Officer" ranking.
